Great case for DSLR with zoom lens June 22, 2010 Wendy This is a well made case which is ideal for carrying a DSLR camera with standard telephoto zoom lens attached and it is not too heavy. The dimensions given are deceptive as this includes generous padding, so don't be fooled by this and look at a shorter case. This case fits my Olympus E420 with 70-300mm telephoto zoom lens attached perfectly and this measures 20cm in total. Contrary to what some have said I found that the spare battery fitted easily into the pocket in the lid.
The only criticism I have is the lack of the fitted protective cloth to put between the camera LCD display and the strapping, BUT, this is not too difficult to remedy. I found that the microfibre cloth provided with fluid for cleaning my spectacles serves this purpose admirably and have even sewn it in along one side for ease of use. Simples .... as a certain Meerkat would say ;-)
Excellent for compact D/SLRs only! June 20, 2010 MarmiteMan (Norwich, England) Must confess surprise to Gareth Williams' assertion that he managed to fit a Canon EOS 30D in this Cirrus TLZ 25. Got mine upon its introduction (all the way from from Canada, no less!) to accommodate my EOS 450D + EF 28-135mm IS USM (with lens hood reversed-on) - which it only JUST managed. However, the folded/layered camera strap then prevented using the inner flap memory card/accessories pocket [have since sold this camera + lens; not because of the bag!]. The Cirrus TLZ 25 WOULD, with supports removed, accommodate my EOS 33V + 28-105mm Mk II USM - again, only JUST - this time too tightly to be manageable: the hot shoe 'catches' the fabric and is close to tearing into it. Instead, this rig (including RC-1 on strap and numerous accessories) lives comfortably in a LowePro Rezo 140. Unfortunately, the Cirrus TLZ 25 does NOT fit my new EOS 50D + EF-S ... well, it matters not which lens: the semi-pro camera body simply will NOT fit into the compartment. My 50D, lens, flash-gun and numerous accessories live in a Rezo 170. These Rezo models' microfibre cloth protects the LCD screen from the folded camera strap's buckles; frankly, it would be unwise NOT to have this assurance when storing your precious/expensive camera gear!
I cannot comment on/for other camera makers' body sizes, but for Canon's COMPACT-bodied D/SLRs, the LowePro Cirrus TLZ 25 is, indeed, a pretty good bag - i.e. recommended!
A good sized case May 15, 2010 J. Bowen (Hampstead London) This camera case comfortably holds my Olympus e-600 camera with either an 18-180 or 70-300mm attached. Inside, it comes with 2 little adjustable straps that can be placed anywhere you like in the bag (to stop the camera rattling round as you move if you've a smaller lens attached) and a little pocket in the lid that's big enough to hold the spare e-600 battery and memory card I usually carry with me.
The adaptable stap that it comes with is long enough to make it feel comfortable as you walk around and it feels well enough made to last a good while. All in all a decent single camera/lens bag.
Style not for me February 27, 2010 Cruizin Comet (UK) Lowepro make good bags, great bags even...
But I was a little dissapointed in this bag, don't get me wrong, for a holster case it's good, but it's massive! It still only held my camera body and 17-85 lens with little or no room for anything else. The quality of the bag I can't fault, it's very well made and provides lots of padding to protech your kit, but if I had to carry this case around I would find it very obvious.
I sent mine back & got a Lowepro Nova 160AW which I love, it was cheaper, I can fit my body with 17-85 lens in it, as well as my 70-300 beside it, 2x battery packs, body cap, lens cap, wired remote, lens cloth, memory cards etc, and it's alot more discreet than the Cirrus holster.
Lowepro Cirrus TLZ25 February 10, 2010 Paullus (Staffordshire, UK) I bought this as "used" from Amazon Marketplace. It was described as very good with cosmetic blemishes in resealed packaging. It arrived promptly the following day as usual using Amazon Prime. I opened it up and spent several moments fruitlessly searching for the promised blemishes but could find none. In fact it still had its product tags attached and the little bag off silica gel was inside. It must have been ex-display so I got an absolute bargain.
I bought the bag to carry my Olympus E520 with an Olympus 70-300 zoom lens attached. It also has a UV filter and neoprene comfort neck strap fitted and it still fits in, albeit snugly. The bag itself is very light so it doesn't add much extra weight. The bags padding is adequate and there are two support braces which support the camera inside the bag so all of its weight isn't on the lens cap. These braces are attached with Velcro so they can be adjusted to suit. There is a pocket inside the lid for small items but with my camera and lens I think I might only be able to fit a spare memory card in, definitely not another battery. There is also an external pocket which is closed with velcro but it would only take small flattish items that could be difficult to retrieve as the pocket is deep but tight. The only thing it lacks in my opinion is as mentioned in another review, a protective cloth flap to protect the LCD screen from being rubbed by the neck strap. Altogether this is a high quality, simple, no frills bag that does exactly what I want, which is to enable me to carry just my camera with a big lens fitted safely around.
