Good bag May 30, 2010 J. R. Fryatt (Northants, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am suing this bag for my Canon EOS 5D mkII, with battery grip, and 70-200mm f/4 lens, and this kit fits in very nicely. The build quality is very good and it offers great protection for the kit inside. The extra pockets are handy for other bits and pieces, and the front pocket looks like it should hold a flash gun (although I don't have one at present). I like the assymetric opening, which makes it easier to get your hand in and take out the camera. This does mean you can only have one add-on pouch or lens case (compared to the older Top-loaders) but this is fine as two cases added on would make the whole thing to big and unwieldy and at that stage I'd probably go for a big camera bag instead.
The only criticism I might make is that the lid, unlike other and older Lowepro Top Loaders, does not overlap the body, so there is a little bit less protection fron wind-driven rain etc. going through the zip. In practice I don't think this matters though, certainly not to me as I am not an extreme conditions photog. ;-)
Great Bag for Enthusiast Size SLR + Big Lens February 16, 2010 Chris R (Devon, UK) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This bag is perfect for my Nikon D80 with a Sigma 50-150mm lens attached including the hood (fitted for use rather than in the reversed storage position). It's fantastic to be able to carry the camera like this as it can save the time to attach the hood which could result in a photo being missed.
I have several other camera bags of smaller size and this is a similar standard but has a more hardwearing, heavyweight feel to it which makes it suitable for serious photographers.
I've not tested the waterproof outer, although I have looked at it and I'm not sure you'd be able to put it on very quickly without a bit of practise. Still, it's a useful feature to have.
The bag has plenty of pockets for lots of other accessories, but not another lens in addition to a 70-200/50-150mm size lens unless you really squeezed it in. You need a bigger or different type of bag if you want to carry several lenses though.
Having said that, there are a couple of moveable velcro dividers inside the bag so if you wanted to use it for a camera with a smaller lens attached, you could probably fit another lens in the bottom.
All in all really pleased with this bag - perfect for what I wanted, which is a convenient bag to travel/walk around with and have my camera + medium telephoto zoom ready for action at all times.
Fit my 40D+Grip and 17-85mm without problem January 2, 2010 W. MEENIL (London, UK and Bangkok, Thailand) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This bag can fit my 40D+Grip and 17-85mm without problem.
I really like this bag...very compact bag (Not too big, not too small for my 40D+Grip)
This is a good bag for people who don't like to carry a lot of stuff. (Just 1 Camera body and Grip and 1 attached lens.)
Very Good Toploader December 31, 2009 hewcanon (UK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Lowepro 65 Pro Toploader is a well made bag, with integrated rain cover, weather proofing, and padding, which is why I bought it, for my Canon 500D + Tamron 17-270mm lens.
Very easy to get the camera in and out while on the move, even with with rain cover on.
Size wise it fits easily the camera-lens length wise, and width wise is more than enough for a bigger body like 50D, but it is rather deeper than necessary from outside inwards without the practical ability to fit anything extra inside as claimed, having said that it is still smaller and more practical than Lowe Pro 160 and 170 for example.
Excellent price at the moment (50% off) from Calmut makes it a bargain.
